The CORE VALUES underscore everything we do
We are a team
Being part of the Queenstown Robostormers means you can be part of a team with people who share your interests, form friendships, and really learn that working as a group achieves far more than working as individuals.
We identify our strengths and weaknesses across the team so we know we can cover a wide range of issues that often arise in robotics competitions.
We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors
Parents, back away, we got this. We will ask for help when we need it.
We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together
When we lost our coach Martin, we didn’t think we could do it on our own, but we wanted to make Martin proud, so we continued on and worked it out for ourselves.
We honour the spirit of friendly competition
It’s great to help other teams where we can and we are always very grateful when more accomplished teams pass on their wisdom to us.
It’s not about what we win but what we learn during the design and build process and on the day of the competition.
What we discover is more important than what we win
Each season of FIRST LEGO League the team are very excited to undertake ‘The Project’ as the group love going out into the community and learning about local issues and looking for potential solutions.
For Animal Allies we studied the effect humans are having on native species, in particular, human interactions with Keas; to the detriment of the birds health and the property of the humans.
We share our experiences with others
When we go out into the community for our project we get to meet many experts who are always very interested in the robotics projects we are doing. They give us a lot of encouragement and we really appreciate how generous they are with their time.
We display Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition in everything we do
It’s so important to have a good attitude when it comes to competition. We don’t like to see the little kids being pushed aside by competitive teens at the practice tables. Displaying gracious professionalism is the most important part of competition.
We have fun
In the lead up to our competition season we always like to get away from our robots, do a bit of team building, and have a lot of fun.
Many thanks to Ziptrek for having us back in December 2017.
